A very talented and dear person to my heart Irene Plummer's etsy shop came up and i was like O M GOD!!!! sat for a few minutes..then i could not resist sending her a convo...now this is the scary part guys..cause even though i love this person we lost touch many moons ago..why??? Combination of being so sad and depressed and HERMIT like on my part that's for sure. But i felt the fear and sent the convo anyway..seems like a theme of my life this year folks that i have not talked to in a MILLION years suddenly coming back into my circle...and WOW !!! Irene DID contact me (and does not hate me)and its been wonderful...SOOOOOOOOOOO today i am cleaning my bathroom and here is a piece of her art i have..its a lovely wooden cabinet that i have kept my precious (PRECIOUS) LOL soap in..anyone that knows me i hoard soap ...and i am listening to vintage R.E.M ( irene and i went back in the day and saw them in Portland, Maine) So i thought HEY take a pic and blog this since you been so slack with your blog!!! This beautiful pair of mugs was a special request from another artist on Etsy...she wanted something for her friends birthday. Come to find out her friend has a beautiful mammoth donkey named Tikki.

been working in a different medium this week...doing little water colors that i have drawn..been relaxing and creative and gives me a chance to rest my wrists ..i threw a lot of clay last week and some of the pieces were large!
Its fun working with something so different than what i am used to....went to Ma's grill for dinner with friends so i am good to go for a few hours!! :-)

feels so dang good to have the time this weekend to just work in the studio..and not come up with something else to take my desire away..if its work or life or my brain...i shut all that off and just worked...the pots are coming out really good (sometimes they suck!) i worked really late or early LOL this morning on these butter dishes..the frog is a special order...now i have to let em dry slowly with out any cat help and maybe i will have 6 to sell!!! :-)

New is new...i have been working my buns right off and some new stuff is coming outta the kiln..but as i said before i need to get my BIG ol' buns in the studio and throw! got orders and more orders to fill.....its always something though to make me look out the window :-)

One of the three butter dishes i had worked on a few weekends ago..the other two were special orders..which are kinda stressful sometimes..this one i could do anything i wanted...and i decided a Golden Crowned Kinglet would be perfect...i still was sweatin a little bit cause the chance of ALL THIS WORK doing a nose dive in the kiln is high..but all three were perfect....i love the colors of this piece...being a potter is a good thing sometimes!! :-) pieces like this make all the work worth it!!

i finally took some time and updated my webpage..got off some old crappy links i did not want anymore and cleaned it up..hell the whole thing has changed! LOL it used to be a HUGE pain in the fanny to do any updating or changing...i have put it off for about 6 months..but tonight i spent some time and actually got it looking pretty good!

I am going to visit with my bestest friend Bly...we are meeting up with Teri who i have not seen in a million years..we used to ride horses when we were like 8yrs old..that was a LONG time ago..Teri had a favorite horse Debby..she was a big dapple grey mare...kinda cranky but SOOOOO pretty...Teri loved her ! I think she rode Debby everytime we had a lesson...now Bly rode a horse named Booger so there you go..who did i ride?? Hot Lips..so now ya know what kind of jammin barn we rode at!!
Its kinda making me nervous this lunch..but it will be fun..and to complete the set Eagle is coming and i have not seen him in 25 years easily...we all went to high school together...

this lunch should be interesting!!!! HA!

what i was feeling when i was painting this bowl..i remember what i was listening to...i remember everything....

now i see this bowl again...as i post these pics and i am sad..because of those memories...and at this second..i am feeling something heavy...i see something pretty..and i feel quite the opposite.....sucks sucks green donkey dicks...sucks because stuff sucks sometimes.

They call this a "Pig Picking Cake" i dunno why but its really an easy and super yummy cake. Here is the recipe...i have like 2 of these recipes they are wicked old and both kinda different so adjust to fit what you might like..the measurements esp. of some of the products have changed over the years too but i have been very successful with this cake. If you decide to use your own cake recipe then start where it says to add the mandarin oranges!!

1 box of yellow cake mix ( not butter)
1 11 oz can of mandarin oranges & juice
4 eggs
1/2 cup oil
3 cake pans greased and floured

mix cake mix, eggs,oil and mandarin oranges and juice. Beat thoroughly for at least 3 minutes or until orange slices are completely blended in the batter, the texture will be smooth.
Pour batter in baking pans and bake at 335* for about 20 minutes. NOW my cakes seem to need an extra 4-5 minutes so keep an eye o them. You want them slightly golden on the edges but you want the center done too.

Let cool completely before you ice the cake.

Icing
1 9oz carton of Cool Whip room temp.
1 3oz pkg. of instant vanilla pudding
1 lg can of crushed pineapple and juice

mix cool whip, pineapple w/ juice and the pudding . I do this with a mixer for about 2 minutes. I let it rest a few minutes then i start spreading it between the layers and the top. This icing is kinda funky and chunky so you just have to play with it .

I usually try to make this cake the night ahead. It is really good after it sits and relaxes and all that good stuff has a chance to meld. This cake is light and not too sweet. I can make other cakes but they never want me to ! :-) i would love to put some cherries on it or some raspberries but again i get a big fat NO! LOL

WHEW! a first part of a big special order is done. I have many more horses and mugs to paint for Melissa at Muddy Horse Rescue.
She is planning on using them for fund raising to support her horses.

This is very special to me. First i love horses...then i have a rescue horse myself , so i feel so lucky to have her in my life. I want to do anything to help. Melissa is one of the coolest people i have every chatted with on line! :-) You can tell she rocks and she LOVES horses and really goes beyond the call of duty for them.

Please take time to check out her flickr. She is also on Etsy selling beautiful jewelry! While some of the pictures are heartbreaking. I think the more people who know the more help any animal in need may get from the two legged creatures!

Here is the scoopie poopie...i have a kiln but its not hooked up..and if i told you how much its gonna take me to run 120 Feet of wire you would know why i feel kinda screwed..and NOT ina good way .
SOoOoOO long story short i had to haul pots up to Durham NC where a dear old friend of mine Mr. Dunn took pity ( and some $) to bisque fire what i have finished...it is about a 90 mile round trip..but i am happy to say everything arrived in great shape!! YIPPEE and once this is all fired then i can paint and fill my orders (after i take em back to Mr. Dunn to glaze fire!) When i become employed again..i will feel better spending my life savings and having my kiln at home..right now i don't ..its scary as hell not having a jobjob...THANKS B for giving me 4 days notice..not that i am bitter or anything.! ACK
WAIT WAIT i am surposed to be productive and creative not sad and depressed....its hard guys...it sucks.....WAIT i am doing it again!!

Ya know sometimes you create something and with pottery...you never know whats it gonna look like because it has to be fired..SO many times i have pieces that i dig before they are fired only to be so bummed out when they are unloaded..total dogs!
BUT sometimes i am surprised...ones i think are gonna be dogs but i am toooooo lazy or busy LOL to wash em off and start over..i unload and i am like OOoOo ya...here is an example of such!!!

so yesterday i threw bowls and trimmed them ..those are just bowls..these bowls i trimmed them and pulled handles too! also made some wall vases...made some room for the pots to dry...i am almost MAXED out on lack of space!!! Need to find a kiln that someone will be nice to me and use to bisque everything..i will have to blog about whats up with MY kiln right now...long story!

O M G...i got home a little while ago..been looking for a job..spending more money on stinking stamps than gas...been struggling with NO desire to be creative really feeling down and funky and sad blah blah blah...well ya might know last week i got my groove back..today when i arrived back i saw something out of place..i had an order to pack up and found this crate with4 dips in it all done just finishing drying out and waiting till i get my kiln up and running ( another reason why i am feeling like walking off a cliff..but that's another story!)
Soooooo i left that crate there all afternoon..every time i think about it i just get so upset..so i decided to snap a pic..and who comes in to check it out..Busta..who i just KNOW turned the thing over to begin with..three are ruined..one survived..just a lot of work crumbled up.
Good thing he is so cute cause i want to kill him!!! Ackkkkkkkkkkk

man..i am suffering from some major artist block or i am depressed so damn bad i cant even imagine being creative and that SUCKS!
i know the reason and it sucks even more that i cant seem to break it...losing that job in Jan really kicked me in the dingding and it hurts still...and its like getting worse vs. better...my kiln still STILL not hooked up and i just have to wait...meanwhile i am looking out the window vs. getting muddy....so i started small and did something simple and hopefully healing with reorganizing this space..thinking a whole lot about my mom ...coming up to the anniversary of Bo dying too and sometimes it sucks and thats that...i am just gonna make a list of things i WILL make by the end of the week and even if i dont 'want" too it would be stupid on my part not to make myself...i sit and cry as i type this i guess i am a big ass baby........
